The Jazz have signed second-round pick John Tonje to a two-way contract, according to the official NBA transactions log.
Tonje, 24, took a winding path to the pros. After four seasons at Colorado State, he transferred to Missouri in 2023 but was limited to just eight games because of a foot injury.
Granted a medical redshirt, he bounced back in a big way at Wisconsin last season, averaging 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 46.5 percent from the field, nearly 39 percent from three and 91 percent at the line. That performance earned him second-team All-America honors and a spot on the All-Big Ten first team.
Utah grabbed Tonje with the No. 53 pick in June, using a selection previously acquired from the Clippers. The 6-foot-5 guard will now join Oscar Tshiebwe and Elijah Harkless as the team’s two-way players, filling the final opening in that category.
With Tonje officially under contract, the Jazz now have 19 players on the roster, two shy of the offseason limit.
