The New Orleans Pelicans were busy during the 2025 NBA Draft.
In hopes of making a return to the NBA Playoffs, the New Orleans Pelicans selected three crucial picks – Jeremiah Fears, Derik Queen , and Micah Peavy.
With Queen sidelined due to an injury and Peavy being a second-round pick, all eyes are on Fears’ rookie season with the Pelicans.
On that note, Fears recently made a huge revelation about Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry during the Pelicans’ Media Day.
Considering Curry’s impact on the modern era, many recent NBA rookies view the Baby-Faced Assassin as their inspiration.
Well, the same was the case for Fears as he idolized Steph while growing up.
“My favorite player growing up was Steph Curry,” Fears admitted on Media Day.
However, after getting drafted to the NBA, Fears’ opinion has changed, and there’s no controversial reason behind it.
“But I don’t have one any more, I’m going to be competing against him,” he added.
With the Pelicans in the Western Conference against the Warriors, it’s no surprise that Fears has to abandon his favoritism toward Curry.
Otherwise, the Pelicans’ dream of becoming a threat in the conference will be crushed.
Even though the Pelicans have added some new blood to the roster, Zion Williamson remains the most important player on the team.
The Pelicans’ success depends on Williamson’s performance throughout the regular season and to get the optimum results, Fears will need to be on the same page as Zion.
“The effect he brings to the game is everything. He’s different,” Fears said of Williamson.
While both Fears and Queen have praised Williamson, only time will tell if the Pelicans’ new rookie duo can adjust well on the court with him.
