Jimmy Butler Doesn't Care About Getting A Tribute Video From Miami Heat

Jimmy Butler gets ready to face the Miami Heat for the first time since his highly controversial exit from the team at the trade deadline. When talking about whether he expects or even wants a tribute video from the Heat, Butler pushed back on the idea, noting that he wasn't losing sleep either way, whether they decided to give him a tribute video or not. Although he did admit that he would watch the video.

"Would I watch? Yeah, I would watch. If they have one, if they don’t, makes no difference.”

Given the nature of the exit and the controversy that was sparked over Butler's last month with the Miami Heat, it is unlikely he will get a tribute video. Especially since these decisions are made by the front office, and Butler has made an enemy out of the man who sits atop the food chain - Pat Riley.

Butler demanded a trade away from the Miami Heat after six years with the team. He wanted to leave primarily because they wouldn't offer him a max contract, something he wanted as he entered the final years of his career. The Heat felt that Butler was too old, and Pat Riley did not feel comfortable giving Butler the kind of money he was asking for given where the team was headed.

Things really escalated between the two sides, with Butler getting suspended by the Heat several times before Butler was finally traded. Riley did try to smooth things out between him and Butler, with it being reported that the Heat president even cried in a private meeting with the superstar to try and get him to stay.

But the meeting did not work, as Butler remained steadfast in his desire to leave if he wasn't going to get the contract offer that he wanted from them. The Heat sent Butler to the Golden State Warriors, and since then, it has become very clear which side won the trade. The Warriors have been flying high with Butler on their team, going 16-3 in the games that he has played.

On the other hand, the Miami Heat have been abysmal since Butler left, going 5-17 since pulling the trigger on the trade. Andrew Wiggins might be a good player, but he hasn't done enough to replace the impact Jimmy made for the Heat.

Aside from the comments he made above, Butler has seemingly gone on the offensive against the Heat in his interactions with the press, albeit passive-aggressively. He recently dismissed the idea of a 'Heat Culture', noting that fans have made it to be the stuff of legends when it isn't really as prevalent as they might believe.

When talking about his stint with the Heat, Butler spoke candidly, noting that none of it mattered because he and the squad weren't able to win a championship together, despite coming close on two different occasions. Perhaps Butler can inspire the Warriors to a title instead, as they have been playing some great basketball since he joined.
