It was a pretty normal day for the Golden State Warriors, especially for Jimmy Butler. It has become a trend for Butler to show up on Media Day with a bizarre look. In the past, the six-time All-Star appeared in front of reporters wearing dreadlocks. That was followed by him having an emo-style haircut, which fans loved, when he was with the Miami Heat.
But amid the contract negotiations the Warriors are dealing with, Butler decided to have his normal hair. The majority of the focus is on the Golden State’s ongoing contract impasse with Jonathan Kuminga. Even before the conclusion of the 2024–25 NBA season, this was the team’s primary focus.
However, Butler hinted that there’s a chance for a comeback persona. The All-Star forward stated that he may wear his emo style to one of their team sessions, but he did not specify when he would be able to do so.
“I’m here. Normal hair. No shenanigans,” the star forward said.
“You might see [’emo Jimmy’] but you won’t see him up here for a media day.”

Jimmy Butler mentioned that his teammate, Buddy Hield, is a huge fan of Emo Jimmy. The former Marquette star teased that he could bring it back for Hield’s sake.
“Buddy for some off reason loves ’emo Jimmy,'” Butler continued. “… So for his sake, I think we’ll show up to practice one day.”
Butler will play his first full season with the Warriors. Last year, he was traded by Miami to Golden State after he demanded it. The two-way forward only appeared in 30 games for his new team. But that was enough to help them become a playoff team.
The Warriors are looking to be title contenders next season. This is why the team needs to develop a bond and chemistry before the start of the year. Before the team’s training camp, it was revealed that Jimmy Butler spent time with his teammates by hosting a basketball minicamp in his home.
“Maybe a couple times, but not at my own home, and I just wanted to be around my guys,” he said. “I got the opportunity to see a lot of them over the summer or to go where they are from. Maybe not see them, but see people I know from their neck of the woods. So it was important for me to welcome – those are guys, like my family, into my home and have a good time and let them in a little bit of my life.”
Jimmy Butler is eager to win basketball games with his Warriors teammates. The only player who didn’t attend Butler’s minicamp was Kuminga.
