Jimmy Butler's Warriors Debut Date With Stephen Curry Revealed

For the Warriors and Jimmy Butler, the trade that landed the former Heat star in the Bay Area was mostly one of convenience more than desire. The Warriors really wanted Kevin Durant. And Butler really wanted to go to Phoenix. Neither could get their first choice, though, so they wound up with each other.

When he was introduced by Golden State with a press conference after the trade, Butler expressed his gratitude for finally ending his standoff with the Miami front office, and his intention of getting the Warriors back into contention.

"I'm glad that I get the opportunity to get here and help get us to winning, and do something special," Butler said. "I think that's why I'm here. And I'm going to do my best to do what everybody wants, and that's to win a championship. I mean it."

What's been uncertain is when, exactly, Butler will play for the first time for the Warriors, and whether he would be lining up alongside a healthy Stephen Curry when he did.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, that will happen on Saturday, and Curry will be in the lineup, too, along with Draymond Green

Slater wrote: "Jimmy Butler is cleared to make his Warriors debut tomorrow night in Chicago. Not listed on injury report. Neither are Steph Curry and Draymond Green. Warriors expected to have all three in what feels like beginning of a 31-game sprint to the finish line."

The Warriors are 25-26, which is tied for 10th in the Western Conference. They are just 3.5 games behind the No. 6-seeded Timberwolves. The top 6 in the conference are in the playoffs, while Nos. 7-10 are in the play-in tournament.

The Bulls and Warriors tip off on Saturday at the United Center at 8 p.m. EST. It's the third of a massive six-game road trip for the Warriors that leads into the All-Star Game, which will be played in San Francisco.
