JJ Redick Taking Heat For 'Childish' Behavior

JJ Redick's first season as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers ended on an incredibly sour note, losing a first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

For the most part, Redick showed a ton of promise as the head coach of the Lakers. He led the franchise to a 50-32 record in the regular season, which was good enough to earn the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.

Unfortunately for Redick, it sounds like he'll mostly be remembered for his shortcomings this season.

During this Thursday's edition of "Get Up," ESPN insider Brian Windhorst put Redick on blast for his "childish" behavior.

Redick refused to admit that he made a mistake not using his bench during the second half of Game 4. He then stormed out of his press conference prior to Game 5.

Unsurprisingly, Windhorst wasn't a fan of Redick's antics.

"I don't mean this in a personal way. JJ Redick coached very immaturely this series," Windhorst said. "He was still seething and upset about the previous games to the point where Reggie Miller said on the broadcast last night he had to try to calm him down in the pregame meeting because JJ was acting, frankly, childishly. He walked off and stormed off in the pregame session with reporters. Regardless of the question, it's not the way to start.

"Not only did he double down on his, frankly, irrational decision not to substitute for an entire half in a playoff game, he played a guy who hadn't played in three months ahead of centers he had on his roster. He played Maxi Kleber. He had never even practiced with the Lakers. That is not a rational decision, I'm sorry."

Does this mean Redick is the wrong guy for the job? Absolutely not, but he still has room to grow.

Luckily for the Lakers, their head coach is only 40 years old. There's a legitimate chance he'll show more maturity, on and off the court, next season.
