Joel Embiid lists Philly penthouse for sale

Cue the trade rumors for the NBA's reigning Most Valuable Player based on a real estate listing.

Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid has reportedly listed his city penthouse for sale for $5.5 million. Realtor.com, a listing and information site managed by the National Association of Realtors, posted details and photos of the two-story condo.

Some of the amenities will easily make you question your station in life or perhaps give you some decor ideas:

"Each bedroom offers impressive city views and en suite bathrooms decked out with glamorous, mirrored vanities; gold accents; and marble and Silestone finishes. One bedroom even has its own outdoor space.

"Float up the Compac quartz stairs, offset by a marble feature wall, to access a private, 1,000-square-foot, rooftop deck. At the deck, there’s a pool, hot tub, and outdoor kitchen. 

"Building amenities include a virtual doorman and electronic, coded-access elevators."

A prominent athlete listing a residence for sale doesn't exactly mean he or she plans to leave town, but it does add fodder for fans who consume trade and free agent speculation in the media. Perhaps Embiid is trying to unload this penthouse because, like many city residents, he wants the big house and picket fence in the suburbs. (Although there's plenty of space in a swanky two-floor apartment.) Maybe he wants to build a new training room but is running into issues with getting approvals from the condo board. 

Embiid may also have chosen to test the waters and see what he could fetch for the place in the open market. After all, Realtor.com said that the penthouse last changed hands in 2018 for $3.2 million. Between inflation over recent years and the presence of Philly's most beloved Sixer since Allen Iverson, it wouldn't be a shock if there are willing buyers who have at least $5.5 million to spare.

So if you haven't spent all of your money on Christmas gifts in December or have a bonus from work on the way, feel free to put in a bid. You never know.
