Josh Giddey has not received a long-term contract offer from the Chicago Bulls, which is quickly becoming an uncomfortable situation.
In the 2024-25 season, Josh Giddey averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game. It was a promising season, especially since he ramped it up in the second half of the campaign.
Giddey’s campaign included a magical game against the Los Angeles Lakers, when he hit a buzzer-beating game winner.
Unfortunately, this promising season has not led to a big contract extension from the Chicago Bulls. Giddey reportedly wants a deal similar to Jalen Suggs‘.
Now, Giddey has become more frustrated due to not getting the attention he wants, according to Sam Amico. This could lead to him settling for a smaller contract with the Bulls.
Teams would probably be interested in taking a flyer on offering good money for Giddey because he is a good player, as evidenced by his 2024-25 campaign for the Bulls.
However, his demands are seriously hurting his market. A similar deal to Suggs means he wants around $30 million a year, which is not what the Bulls would want to spend.
If the second apron were not such a big issue for teams, someone might have scooped him up by now.
Unfortunately, the cap restrictions mean Giddey is not so appealing to teams. He is not a high-level defender, and his production is not as consistent as teams would like.
Giddey is completely justified in his frustration, but he could lower his demands. If he does that, he might command a stronger market beyond the Bulls.
If no team is interested in a sign-and-trade for Josh Giddey, then he and his camp are overestimating his value. It means the league watched the entirety of his play last season and said “Eh”. https://t.co/vbGbNdnofl

In not getting a first-round pick in the Alex Caruso trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Bulls proved that they see top potential in Giddey.
Most fans would have loved to get a first-round pick alongside Giddey, but that did not happen, leading to some Bulls supporters regretting the trade.
I’m not sure Josh Giddey understands the franchise he’s dealing with…..my pops said he was scared they would let MICHAEL JORDAN walk over money back in the day

Wake up bruv
But the Bulls’ front office believes in Giddey, especially under head coach Billy Donovan. He already spoke about how thrilled he is with Giddey’s progress during the 2024-25 season, and the Aussie guard could keep improving his game if he re-signs with them.
That is still a question mark due to Giddey not getting the deal he wants, but the most likely scenario is that they retain him on a smaller deal later this offseason.
