It was a quiet, unexpected signing that seemingly blew up on social media for no good reason.
In reaction to the Minnesota Timberwolves re-signing Joe Ingles to a one-year, $3.6 million deal, New York Knicks star Josh Hart took to X to take a jab at the 37-year-old forward.
"Man somebody tell him to go head and retire already," Hart wrote.

Hart's post went viral, garnering over 2.6 million views in just a few hours on June 30.
Fans took issue with Hart's message, coming to the defense of Ingles but also using it to take shots at Hart himself -- however, the good nature of the post seemed lost on social media.
Why? Stop hating bro," one fan replied.
"ironic cause he’s better than you champ," a second fan wrote.
What a bizarre thing to say to someone else who plays in the same league as you," a third fan wrote.
"Bro is making 3.6M to play 30 minutes in the season- that would be insane to retire," another fan said.
What many fans were unaware of is that Hart and Ingles have a history.
Hart has ribbed Ingles in the past, calling him the "most unathletic player in the NBA," but Ingles has maintained a mentor role to Hart.
“That’s my guy. I knew he was going to be talking [expletive]. So I was ready. I got a lot of love for Joe. He’s a guy who has helped me, even this year," Hart told the New York Post of Ingles after a win over the Orlando Magic. "Texting me, telling me to stay confident and all that stuff. So that’s my guy.
“And if you know Joe, Joe’s a [expletive] talker. I was ready. I was waiting for him to check him. And I was hoping he was going to guard me ’cause I was going to bust his [expletive].”
Despite his fleeting athleticism at his age, Ingles remains an asset in the NBA as the Wolves re-upped on his contract to essentially be a back-of-the-bench coach for the team.
It's a position few players are willing to take in a league where minutes are everything in determining your worth -- and apparently, he is worth every dollar to Minnesota.
