The New York Knicks suffered their first loss of the 2025-26 season to the Miami Heat 115-107.
The New York Knicks were coming into this matchup riding high after two impressive victories, but they couldn’t slow down Norman Powell who led Miami with 29 points.
Jalen Brunson had a game-high 37 points and Mikal Bridges chipped in with 20, but there wasn’t enough offense outside of those two.
Miami’s bench outscored the Knicks bench 44-21, which proved to be the real difference maker in this game. Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 17 and Simone Fontecchio had 14.
The New York Knicks set a franchise record for most threes attempted in a game with 54, “we have good shooters” says Josh Hart
Another big factor why the Knicks couldn’t get this victory is because they couldn’t buy a three-point shot.
The Knicks set a franchise record for the most threes attempted in a game with 54. The problem is they only hit 15 of them.
The Knicks have been shooting far more threes this season under coach Mike Brown than they did under Tom Thibodeau last season.
Josh Hart talked about the Knicks shooting so many threes in their matchup against Miami.
“We have good shooters. We’re pushing the pace…gotta make sure we’re set & ready.
“We knew this was gonna be a tough one, our 1st game having some adversity, we’ll continue to build.”

Through the first three games of the season, the Knicks lead the league in three-point shots attempted per game with 46.3.
The Knicks have shot a total of 139 threes this season, but have only sunk 46 of them.
New York is taking the most threes, but they are 22nd in the league in three-point percentage, making 33.1 percent of their attempts.
That’s not good enough for a team that has title aspirations for this season.
