Jrue Holiday hits game-winner to complete Bucks' comeback over Heat

Halfway through the fourth quarter Wednesday, the Heat led the Bucks by 14 as it seemed like the current best team in the Eastern Conference would make a statement by handling the reigning champions on their home court.

The Bucks had other ideas.

Milwaukee erased a double-digit deficit in the final minutes, and Jrue Holiday delivered a game-winning layup as the Bucks triumphed 120-119 over the Heat.

With 8:32 left in the game, the Heat called timeout leading by five. Caleb Martin quickly found Tyler Herro for a 27-foot three to extend it to eight. On the next possession, Gabe Vincent hit a triple off a dime from Martin to push it to 11, and Mike Budenholzer called timeout.

After a couple of misses by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Max Strus got the board for Miami, and moments later Herro found Vincent open for another three to put the Heat up by 14.

It was at that point, however, that things began to change. Both teams went quiet for a bit, but Antetokounmpo ended the drought with a dunk off an assist from Holiday, then tipped in another one to make it a 10-point deficit.

Bobby Portis hit a free throw, then Holiday drained a three to make it a six-point game and bring the Milwaukee crowd to its feet. After a Bam Adebayo dunk and a couple of buckets from Portis and Holiday, Antetokounmpo knocked down two free throws with 1:39 left to bring it within one possession.

Herro then hit a jumper, but Antetokounmpo went to the line again and hit two more to answer. Adebayo responded with a jumper that made it a two-score game, but after a steal, Khris Middleton pulled up and cashed a three in transition that made it 119-118.

On the next possession, Antetokounmpo and Jimmy Butler were called for a tie-up, and refs indicated it was a jump ball. Antetokounmpo won the tip, bouncing it to Portis who gave it to Holiday with just under nine seconds left. He took off up the court, and with Vincent guarding him, he drove to the lane and got the go-ahead bucket to go over a leaping Adebayo.

Herro missed a potential game-winning shot from three-quarters court, and the Bucks' comeback was complete. They ended the game on a 21-6 run from the moment they trailed by 14.

Holiday finished with 25 points and a game-high 11 assists. Antetokounmpo logged 28 points and 17 rebounds, and Middleton added 26 points.

Herro led all scorers with 30 off the bench, also adding seven rebounds and five assists. Vincent had 21 points and six assists and Adebayo logged 18 points and 12 rebounds.
