The New York Knicks saw their hopes of winning an NBA Championship this year dashed at the hands of the Indiana Pacers. The two teams have plenty of history with one another, and this was just the latest chapter of said rivalry.

While they won't be going to the NBA Finals, their deep playoff run should still be respected, as this was the first time the Knicks appeared in the Eastern Conference Finals since 2000, when they, ironically, lost to the Pacers.

Kendrick Perkins calls out Knicks star for Tom Thibodeau firing

Just days ahead of the NBA Finals, the Knicks shocked the NBA when they announced they would be firing head coach Tom Thibodeau following one of their most successful seasons in over two decades.

Following the statement, Kendrick Perkins didn't hold back regarding who should be blamed for the firing of their head coach.

"Tom Thibodeau didn't deserve to lose his damn job," Perkins said. "After Game 2, when Karl-Anthony Towns was benched, I told y'all on the production call, I said, if the Knicks lose this series, it may cost Tom Thibodeau to lose his job because of the benching of Karl-Anthony Towns, because of the relationship that Towns has with Leon Rose and [William Wesley] that goes all the way back to the Kentucky days."

Towns and Thibodeau were already quite familiar with each other, even before the Knicks made the trade to acquire Towns, as Thibodeau had previously coached Towns with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Knicks are now presented with an interesting situation. They could choose to run it back next year with only minor adjustments to the roster, featuring a new head coach who fits their roster, or make significant changes to the roster, as well as introduce a new ideology.

Either way, the offseason for the Knicks just got a whole lot more interesting.
