Kendrick Perkins Has Major Worry for Indiana Pacers After Game 1 Collapse vs. Boston Celtics
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Instead of drawing first blood against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Indiana Pacers end up losing the first game of the series. This prompted NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins to worry about the Tyrese Haliburton-led team after how they collapsed in that contest.

Just recently, the Celtics drew first blood against Indiana by winning Game 1 with a score of 133-128 . Jayson Tatum put on a marvelous show by dropping 36 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists, Jrue Holiday played well on both ends of the court by tallying 28 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown had 26 points, including the three-pointer that sent the game to overtime.

For his part, Haliburton led Indiana with 25 points and 10 assists in 40 minutes on the floor. Pascal Siakam proved his worth by making 24 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, while Myles Turner added 23 points on 75 percent shooting from beyond the arc, 10 boards, and two blocks.

The game could have gone to the Pacers had they kept composure towards the final stretch. Unfortunately, they chose not to call a crucial timeout, committed several turnovers, and decided not to foul Brown as he made his shot from deep. As a result, the Celtics have taken command of the series.

NBA Analyst Kendrick Perkins Worries for Indiana Pacers After Game 1 Loss Against Boston Celtics

Along with Haliburton and head coach Rick Carlisle , other personalities have given their take on the Pacers’ Game 1 loss. Among those individuals is NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins in a tweet he posted on X.

“I’m not saying that they won’t but I don’t know how the Pacers regroup from this one! They gave this game away,” Perkins tweeted.

As it stands, the Pacers committed more turnovers, grabbed fewer offensive rebounds, and didn’t go that much to the free throw line in that contest. All of these factors, along with their collapse, contributed to their loss.

To lose in such a frustrating fashion is definitely hard to overcome, especially a more superior team like Boston. It remains to be seen how Indiana will respond to this loss and how they’ll bounce back in Game 2.
