Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder are enjoying one of, if not the best, seasons in the organization's young history.
That verdict will only be decided after the conclusion of the NBA Finals. It's the second NBA Finals appearance for the Thunder, the last one coming back in 2012. Fans of the Thunder remember that team well, led by Kevin Durant with Russell Westbrook and James Harden in support.
Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder to the league's best record, thus securing the No. 1 overall seed, and took home Most Valuable Player honors on top of that.
Gilgeous-Alexander has continued to display his dominance in these NBA Playoffs. After a tough series in which the Denver Nuggets brought the Thunder to seven games, the Thunder made relatively light work of the Minnesota Timberwolves, winning the series 4-1.
Now, the Thunder await to find out who they'll host in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. With the Thunder back in the finals, it sparks a debate of exactly where Gilgeous-Alexander would rank all-time among Thunder players if he's able to bring home a championship. ESPN's Kendrick Perkins has the answer.
"He will be the greatest Thunder ever," Perkins said. "Yes, past Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. [His] third consecutive season averaging over 30, shooting over 50% from the field, scoring title, MVP, Conference [Finals] MVP, going to the NBA Finals, winning a championship, and he's gonna win Finals MVP.
"Secondly, he would get his superstar jacket. And sit at the table with LeBron James, [Nikola] Jokic, [Stephen] Curry, [Kevin Durant] and Giannis [Antetokounmpo]."

While Perkins has given some wild takes in his day, this one feels incredibly genuine. Who would have a better idea? Perkins was on the last Thunder team to make the NBA Finals and played with that lethal trio.
If Gilgeous-Alexander can deliver what Durant and Westbrook, a pair of all-time greats, couldn't, it would be time to start discussing the possibility of Gilgeous-Alexander being precisely as such.
