The Golden State Warriors were able to advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs where they will match up against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Golden State was able to avoid an epic collapse in their first-round series against the Houston Rockets after almost blowing a 3-1 series lead.

Of course, the Rockets were able to force Game 7 on their home court, but that did not stop the Warriors from dominating in Houston on Sunday to clinch the series.

Now, the Warriors will have another tough matchup against the Timberwolves in the second round, especially after Minnesota was easily able to eliminate the Los Angles Lakers in five games in the first round.

Because of this, Golden State will need their superstar trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green to build off their great first round if they want to make it back to the Western Conference Finals.

While the Warriors begin their second-round series in Minnesota on Tuesday, former NBA player and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins made a bold statement about Curry’s NBA legacy on Monday.

Steph Curry is one championship away and one Finals MVP away from entering the GOAT conversation,” Perkins said.

This is a bold claim by Perkins, but he does make a compelling point.

Curry is currently in his 16th NBA season and he has had an incredible career thus far that has put him in the greatest of all time conversation.

The 37-year-old guard is a four-time champion, NBA Finals MVP, two-time regular season MVP, 11-time All-Star, 10-time All-NBA selection and he also has made the most three-pointers in league history.

It is clear that Curry’s resume makes a compelling case for him as one of the top players in NBA history but Perkins was adamant that he needs to win another title along with Finals MVP.

Of course, it has yet to bet seen whether Curry and the Warriors can make another championship run but after adding Butler at the trade deadline, they have looked like a serious contender to win a title this season.
