Kendrick Perkins Makes Bold Warriors Claim Despite Stephen Curry's Injury

Game 1 of their second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves was a great one for the Golden State Warriors as they were able to grab a crucial victory on the road.

Golden State dominated their way to a victory in Game 1 to grab a 1-0 series lead thanks to their elite defensive play, though Minnesota helped out with their poor shooting numbers.

While the Warriors had a great start to the series, they also suffered a massive loss in Game 1 when their superstar point guard Stephen Curry exited the game early in the second quarter due to a left hamstring injury.

After an MRI on Wednesday, the Warriors announced that Curry had suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain, which will keep him sidelined for at least one week.

This is a massive blow for the Warriors as Curry is now expected to be sidelined until possibly Game 6, which will have a massive impact on their chances to advance to the Western Conference Finals.

While Curry’s injury is a major blow to Golden State, they had some key players step up in Game 1 like Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green and Buddy Hield and ESPN analyst and former NBA player Kendrick Perkins believes they can still win the series.

“Absolutely, because they have Playoff Jimmy,” Perkins said about the Warriors’ chances of winning their series against the Timberwolves. “The way that they’re defending right now and locked in defensively led by Draymond Green, the anchor, this team is still dangerous.”

Perkins makes a solid point as the Warriors’ defense played a major role in their victory in Game 1 and Butler was also to step up with Curry sidelined.

Of course, Golden State will need Butler and the rest of the roster to continue to step up in Curry’s absence but there is no doubt that the Warriors have enough talent to advance, though Curry’s injury is a massive loss for the team.
