Kendrick Perkins believes Mike Brown is the better choice over Taylor Jenkins to be the next New York Knicks head coach.

As the New York Knicks hunt for their next head coach, the race is down to two men. The Knicks are set to interview Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown for the vacant head coaching position.

After unceremoniously firing Tom Thibodeau, Knicks president Leon Rose has looked far and wide for his replacement.

The Knicks approached several NBA teams for permission to interview their coaches, but were given an emphatic no from each of them

Brown already has support from Jalen Brunson, who respects him a lot, while Taylor Jenkins has long been a supporter of Mikal Bridges. But which man should be the coach of the Knicks?

Kendrick Perkins backs Mike Brown over Taylor Jenkins as next New York Knicks HC

Speaking on SportsCenter, NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins made his choice between Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown for the next head coach of the New York Knicks.

While he respects what Jenkins achieved with the Memphis Grizzlies, Perkins cannot look past Mike Brown’s talent, tenacity, and veteran experience.

“I like what Taylor Jenkins Jacobs did with the Grizzlies, but he’s not the answer. If I had to go with somebody, it would be Mike Brown.”

“Mike Brown has a lot of experience. Won a few championships as an assistant coach. We saw what he did with the Sacramento Kings, winning coach of the year a few years ago. He shouldn’t have got fired from that job.

“He’s great with personality, and he can handle everything that comes with being the head coach in New York. The media and the different personalities that’s in the locker room.”

“And I believe that if they do keep Karl-Anthony Towns, depending on (whether) they try to go get Kevin Durant or Giannis Antetokounmpo, he can bring the best out of Karl-Anthony Towns on both ends of the floor.

“I actually like Mike Brown, because he is the best available outside of Michael Malone.”

Mike Brown has superstar credentials to be Knicks head coach

Mike Brown isn’t just a great option because of his coaching skills. It’s also his history with superstar players that makes him a strong candidate.

Through his storied career, Brown has worked with legends like Tim Duncan, Metta World Peace, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, Kyrie Irving, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant.

That is an incredible list of players. Many of these stars have spoken highly of Brown. Compare this to Jenkins, who has mostly coached Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Giannis Antetokounmpo during his brief stint with the Bucks.

If the Knicks want a coach who can handle superstar talents and get the best out of them, Brown is the obvious candidate.

Of course, it’s hard to know what Leon Rose is looking for. As the Knicks coaching race heats up, make sure to keep your eyes on NBA Analysis Network, as we look to get you the best insight and analysis on all things basketball.
