The Milwaukee Bucks will enter the new season with a major problem.
With Giannis Antetokounmpo staying, the Milwaukee Bucks can once again aim to make a deep run in the NBA playoffs.
While Antetokounmpo’s future is no longer a concern, there is still a major flaw in the Bucks’ roster construction.
The franchise lacks a proven point guard to run the offense after the departure of Damian Lillard in the offseason.
Even with the NBA preseason underway, former MVP Russell Westbrook has yet to sign with a new team after declining his player option with the Denver Nuggets.
Many believe it’s the end of the road for Westbrook. On the other hand, some linked Westbrook to the Bucks.
NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins falls into the latter category as he expressed his shock over the Bucks still not signing Westbrook, with the regular season getting closer than ever.
“I think he should be on the Milwaukee Bucks right now, I really do. But the reality is for the first time in probably the last 15 years, Russell Westbrook is not on a roster. Crazy,” Perk said on the Road Trippin’ podcast.
While Westbrook is no longer in the prime of his career, he still averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game for the Nuggets last season.
The way Brodie has been treated this summer has shocked many. Even Michael Porter Jr. slammed Westbrook’s former teams for destroying his reputation.
Despite a cloud of uncertainty hovering over Westbrook, Richard Jefferson predicted that the former NBA MVP would soon be on a team.
“I think Russ should be on a team, he’s impactful… I believe Russell will be on a roster very, very soon,” Jefferson stated.
Even if Westbrook doesn’t end up in Milwaukee, there are other teams that could benefit from his services. The Miami Heat are among them, as their star guard, Tyler Herro, is recovering from injury.
