On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Kentucky basketball hosted its annual season kickoff, Big Blue Madness, inside a sold-out Rupp Arena. The event was packed with fan-pleasing moments, including contests, scrimmages, and surprise appearances from program legends.
Kentucky Women’s Basketball coach Kenny Brooks’s ambition was made clear in his introduction, which featured a video of him symbolically breaking vinyl records, representing the 12 school records the team broke in his first year.
Brooks thanked fans for their support, touted the success of women’s sports, and expressed excitement for the upcoming season. He stated, “We won’t stop until we’re National Champions”. New Kentucky Hall of Famer Makayla Epps narrated the hype video and joined Coach Brooks on stage to encourage fan support.
In one of the evening’s most electric moments, former Kentucky point guard and program legend John Wall made a surprise return.
The slam dunk contest featured Chandler, Braydon Hawthorne, and Mouhamed Dioubate.
