Kevin Durant confident Warriors will be 'back to normal' after punch

Kevin Durant has experience clashing with Draymond Green. They had a huge argument on the bench during a Warriors game in early 2018 but were able to move past the incident and reach the NBA Finals. While Durant insists that the Warriors current situation is wildly different than his own, he told ESPN's Nick Friedell that he thinks the Warriors will move past it.

"I think the best thing about the Warriors is their mantra's been 'Strength in Numbers' that whole time," Durant told Friedell. "And it's always been a collaborative effort with everybody there. So Steph is not alone in trying to gather everybody...You can't deal with something like that by yourself. Steph knows that, Bob knows that. I know that from being a part of that group, that they do everything as a collaborative effort, so I'm sure they're all talking internally as a group to see what's the best way to move forward."

Durant and Green patched up their differences in 2018, though the topic lingered throughout the season, along with speculation about what Durant would do after hitting free agency that summer.

The Warriors announced Green wouldn't be suspended following this latest incident, which Poole agreed with, so the Warriors may be settling down as well.

"It seems cool, everybody's back to normal. Draymond is playing next game, Jordan was playing last game. So I guess it's back to normal," said Durant.

What Durant didn't think was normal was the incident itself. Steve Kerr said he'd seen "20-plus fist fights" in practice over the years.

Durant disagreed: "It's rare. I've been in the league 16 years, and I've never seen that until the other day on camera. You hear about it with MJ (who gave Kerr a black eye during a practice) and you hear about it with Bobby Portis (suspended 8 games for punching a teammate), but there's nothing that's happening every year. It's very rare that something like that happens."

Kyrie Irving also commented, but given his recent track record, no one should listen to him.
