Report: Warriors' Jordan Poole didn't think Draymond Green suspension was necessary

In an appearance on NBA Today, Spears detailed what he'd heard about the Warriors' process in deciding on Green's discipline, or lack thereof. 

Team management asked the players to decide, and the players "weren’t comfortable levying a suspension on one of their own teammates. They wanted management to make that decision." Hearing that, the owners and front office opted not to suspend Green, instead levying a fine for an undisclosed amount of money.

Poole reportedly addressed the team, along with Green, and expressed his belief that Green shouldn't be suspended. 

Presumably, Green did not have his fist cocked ready to swing as he awaited Poole's comments. The two may have settled their differences, but it's more likely that Poole - who Spears praised for his "professionalism" in handling the situation - simply wants to move on.

Sometime before Tuesday night's opening game with the Los Angeles Lakers, Poole is likely to agree on a massive contract extension with the Warriors. Long-term, he's focused on the Warriors' quest to repeat as NBA champions. Even if Green did get suspended, he would return to the team eventually, because even if he's a loose cannon, Green is still the most valuable playoff defender in the NBA. Also, the sooner Green comes back to the team, the sooner people stop asking Poole about being punched.

Spears also suggested that Green basically had been suspended since the incident. 

"While he hasn't been suspended, he has been away from the team for over a week now," Spears told Malika Andrews. "So, in a sense, you could even look at that as being a suspension." 

Regardless of how you define it, Green may not have been explicitly suspended, but his teammates did get something rare and valuable during the harsh NBA season: A one-week vacation from Green.
