Kevin Durant Names The Toughest Players to Beat One-On-One

The discourse over how to fix the NBA All-Star Game is still circulating and one of the popular suggestions has been the implementation of a one-on-one tournament. Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant has an idea of who might take home the title.

The former Texas Longhorns star was a guest on "The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis" on Wednesday, where they discussed several topics including KD turning down a trade to the Golden State Warriors a few weeks back. Getting to the one-on-one tournament idea, Green suggested that Durant would ultimately emerge victorious.

When asked who his toughest competition would be in this mano a mano All-Star battle, the former MVP immediately had a few players come to mind.

"I can play one's with Jayson Tatum and he can get cooking, making shots over every contest. I can play one's with Kyrie (Irving) and he can't miss," Durant said. "I would say JT, Kyrie for the simple fact that I've actually played against them. I would say somebody like a Joel (Embiid) too, he can get a bucket from the wing."

Those three players were easy choices with Durant considering that he has gotten a chance to play with all of them in recent years. He was teammates with Tatum and Embiid on the U.S. Olympic team that won gold in Paris last summer and spent multiple seasons with Irving on the Brooklyn Nets.

Two more players came to his mind as tough one-on-one adversaries, one of which literally grew up idolizing him.

"Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander) would be tough, especially if you go with a five-second clock and not three or four dribbles," Durant said. "If you're going with just a shot clock, he's going to be tough. And then Ant (Anthony Edwards), I think I'd put Ant there too."

Contrasting Green, Davis suggested that Milwaukee Bucks star center Giannis Antetokounmpo would dominate this hypothetical tourney. KD was intrigued by how the "Greek Freak" would fare in this scenario.

"I gotta see how he gonna approach the one's," Durant said. "In one's, you gotta be able to just shoot anytime. He's going to straight bully you. You have to foul him the whole time."
