Kevin Durant records triple-double, career-high 16 assists as Nets clinch No. 7 seed in play-in tournament

Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets may be playing their best basketball of the season, and it couldn't come at a better time.

Durant recorded a career-high 16 assists in the Nets' 134-126 victory over the Indiana Pacers on the final day of the regular season on Sunday. The win has the Nets entering the play-in tournament on their fifth winning streak of the season of at least four games, but it's their first one since mid-March and only their second streak of more than two games in a row since mid-December.

With the win over Indiana, the team clinches the No. 7 seed, home-court advantage in the play-in tournament and will host the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Big games were also had on Sunday by Kyrie Irving, Bruce Brown and Andre Drummond.

Sunday's triumph comes on the heels of the news that point guard Ben Simmons — who was acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers in February but hasn't played yet this season — could return in the first round of the playoffs. The Nets would need to beat Cleveland (or win their second play-in contest if they lose to the Cavaliers), in order to advance to the opening round of the postseason.
