The 2024-25 NBA season hasn't even begun but Kevin Durant is already in mid-season form when it comes to taking shots at fans on social media. Durant took to X on Monday to call out the 'dummies' who fall for posts from "NBACentel," the infamous parody account.
"Sometimes I wake up and look at NBACentel comments just to truly see how many dummies come online thinking that they have high iq. Good morning."
As for what led to Durant posting this, it all started when that account recently put out yet another fake post. This time it was about the 36-year-old revealing why he is still single.
“Still rolling solo because I’m not dealing with the headache of debating ball with a woman who can’t name my MVP year or break down a pick-and-roll.”

This post went viral on X and unsurprisingly, some thought Durant actually said it. One X user named Jason Alan Wilkinson did not hold back when blasting the Phoenix Suns star.
"Or you are so unpalatable as a person that no woman wants your ugly a** despite how rich you are. Who gives a s*** if she knows your stats if she truly cares about who you are as a person. Get your head up out of your a** boy.
Durant hilariously responded to that post by stating that Wilkinson got "Centel'd."
"You got centel'd…"
This is far from the first time Durant has called out fans for falling for fake tweets from the parody account. Back in March this year, Durant blasted a fan who fell for another fake tweet on why he's single.
"I won’t call y'all that one word, ima just say a lot of y'all who believe NBA Centel is real just lack the mental capacity."
A couple of months later, the account put out a fake Tinder profile of Durant's. Plenty thought it was real, much to the 14-time All-Star's bewilderment. Durant mocked the fans who fell for that fake Tinder profile post.
"Look at the clowns, believing this is real."
You really have to be very careful on X these days as there are so many of these parody accounts. You better double check especially when it comes to Durant, as he will call you out for getting "Centel'd."
Durant and the Suns came into the 2023-24 season with a lot of hype but the campaign ended in total disappointment, as they got swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs. They are hoping for a change in their fortunes in 2024-25 and have made some interesting moves this offseason.
The Suns have attempted to address their point guard issues from last season by bringing in Tyus Jones and Monte Morris. They also have a new backup big man in Mason Plumlee and landed an intriguing prospect in Ryan Dunn on draft night. There was also a change on the sidelines, with Mike Budenholzer replacing Frank Vogel as the head coach.
Despite all these additions, though, I can't say I'm optimistic about the Suns heading into the season. Do I think they're better than they were last season when they were the sixth seed in the West with a 49-33 record? Yes, but they still don't look like a serious title contender. At best, this team can perhaps get to the Conference Finals, but a more realistic prediction is they'll get knocked out in the semifinals.
