The Kevin Durant trade sweepstakes are heating up, as Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Friday that the Phoenix Suns star could be traded soon.

Durant, 36, has one year left on his contract. The future Hall of Famer will make $54.7 million next season.

A 15-time All-Star, Durant remains one of the top players in the NBA despite being over 35. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

Several teams are interested in trading for Durant, who won two championships and two Finals MVPs with the Golden State Warriors back in 2017 and 2018.

However, according to Charania, the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves are the favorites to land Durant.

“Really in the last 24, 48 hours, I’m told the focus of the Suns conversations has been on a few of the teams and here they are: the Houston Rockets, the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves, I’m told,” Charania said on The Pat McAfee Show

The Heat were swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of this year's playoffs. They tried to trade for Durant at the February NBA trade deadline.

The Rockets lost to the Warriors in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in seven games. Houston head coach Ime Udoka coached Durant when the two were with the Brooklyn Nets.

Finally, the Timberwolves lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2025 conference finals in five games. Minnesota attempted to trade for Durant, who is close friends with Anthony Edwards, in February.

It will be fascinating to see where Durant is playing next season. The NBA icon has played for the Thunder, Warriors, Nets and Suns.
