Kevin Durant Trade Report Emerges After Giannis Antetokounmpo News

This NBA offseason could feature some of its very best players getting moved. That includes Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant. Earlier in May, The New York Post's Brian Lewis reported the Brooklyn Nets are gearing up to trade for Antetokounmpo should he become available.

"Giannis Antetokounmpo has long been viewed as the Nets’ prime target. And for the first time, he might actually be in sight," Lewis wrote. "The Post has long reported that Brooklyn has been amassing draft capital and assets with acquiring Antetokounmpo as their proverbial white whale, but the Bucks had never shown any inclination to move him nor he any indication of being willing to move. That is reportedly changing. "

For now, nothing is concrete regarding whether the Milwaukee Bucks star will request a trade. That said, NBA Insider Marc Stein revealed an update on Saturday that directly impacts Durant. On his latest edition of The Stein Line, Stein revealed Durant's future could be held up by Antetokounmpo's situation.

"The expectation persists that Durant will ultimately reach the trade market this offseason, but it might not happen until there is clarity on whether Giannis Antetokounmpo will be staying in Milwaukee or seeking a trade of his own," Stein wrote.

An Antetokounmpo trade could determine Durant's value on the open market, and it would also presumably eliminate a Durant suitor since no team will have the assets or financial flexibility to add both players. The Bucks have suffered through three consecutive first-round exits and have limited ways to improve their current roster.
