Kevin Durant Trade to Rockets Takes Unexpected Turn

Even though the Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets agreed on a trade for Kevin Durant, nothing had been made official yet.

That's no longer the case, but the terms of the transaction have changed drastically.

According to a report by Fred Katz of The Athletic, the Suns and Rockets have had to include five other teams, making this the largest trade in NBA history:

"The Rockets and Suns have expanded the Kevin Durant trade to include five other teams: ATL, BKN, GSW, LAL, MIN," reported Katz.

Now, multiple trades that had been previously agreed upon will all be a part of the same transaction:

"League sources say the trade will send: Kevin Durant, Clint Capela to Houston; Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Daeqwon Plowden to Phoenix; David Roddy to Atlanta," Katz wrote."All other elements of the deal are pick trades from draft night that are yet to be finalized."

The Rockets acquired one of the greatest scorers in NBA history without giving up control of their Suns' picks or any of their core pieces.

On top of that, they got Clint Capela back, giving them a starting-caliber defensive-minded rim runner and rim protector to back up Alperen Sengun.

Ime Udoka's team is now one of the most stacked in the game, and while we've seen promising teams on paper struggle when it matters the most, they look like a legitimate championship contender right now.

As for the Suns, they will still have to figure out their depth, and their logjam at shooting guard will continue to be a talking point until Jalen Green, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal prove that they can coexist
