There is no doubt that one of the best teams during this generation has been the Golden State Warriors, especially during their stint with Kevin Durant on the roster.
Golden State has been the most dominant team in the NBA since the 2014-15 season. Since then, they have won four championships and set countless records, including winning an NBA record 73 games during the 2015-16 season.
After that season, they signed Durant to a contract in free agency, and he quickly made the Warriors into a dynasty. Of course, this was a controversial move for the superstar forward to make, especially after he and the Oklahoma City Thunder were eliminated by Stephen Curry and the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals the season before.
Despite this, Durant’s tenure with the Warriors was special and he recently commented on it on Draymond Green’s podcast.
"I don't that they're going to forget that I went to the Warriors. It's going to always be a talking point when it comes to my career, but I don't give a (expletive),” Durant said. "We did some incredible things, and we had some of the most fun times of my life moving around as a Warrior. ...There's going to be people that love it, there's going to be people that hate it, but at the end of the day, it happened."
Of course, Durant faced a ton of scrutiny for choosing to sign with the Warriors, but it was definitely the best move of his career. During his three healthy seasons in Golden State, Durant helped lead the Warriors to three consecutive NBA Finals appearances, winning two of them, and they possibly could have defeated the Toronto Raptors in 2019 if he had not suffered a torn Achilles.
While Durant’s time with the Warriors will always be scrutinized, he made the franchise into a dynasty and they will forever be known as one of the most dominant teams in NBA history.
