In a highly anticipated move that has kept the NBA world on edge for months, the Phoenix Suns have traded 15-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant.
Although teams such as the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs had reportedly thrown their hats in the ring for the two-time NBA champion, the Suns ended up trading him to the Houston Rockets.
As reported by ESPN's Shams Charania, the Suns sent Durant to Houston in exchange for budding young star Jalen Green, key contributor Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA draft and five additional second-round picks.
While many fans were made aware of the news via social media, a few fans learned about the trade at Fanatics Fest with Durant in attendance.
The news officially broke while Durant was interviewing with Bleacher Report's Taylor Rooks, which naturally led to Rooks asking Durant for his thoughts on the move as the crowd erupted.
"We gonna see man," Durant said. "We gonna see what happens. ... We gon see."
As Rooks expressed, she wanted to let Durant process the information, so she moved on to the next question of what song Durant always has to play on game days.
Obviously leaning into the huge news, Durant quipped, "'RAINING IN HOUSTON' by Drake."
Durant joins a Houston squad that finished the regular season 52-30, good enough for the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. The 36-year-old forward averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this season.
Needless to say, there may be a new favorite in the West next season.
