It was a disappointing season for the Sacramento Kings as they failed to live up to their lofty expectations entering the season.
Sacramento was expected to be a playoff team in the Western Conference this season after adding DeMar DeRozan to their roster in the offseason to pair alongside De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.
Instead, the Kings had a terrible start that saw them fire head coach Mike Brown and then trade away Fox to the Spurs at the trade deadline.
Sacramento then went on to finish ninth in the West standings with a 40-42 record that put them in the Play-In Tournament against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.
Dallas dominated their way past the Kings in Wednesday’s matchup, ending Sacramento’s season once again without a playoff berth.
After the game, the Kings announced that they and general manager Monte McNair were parting ways after he had spent five seasons with the franchise.
On Thursday, McNair released a statement thanking the Kings’ organization and players with a heartfelt message on social media.
“Five years ago, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime. I’ll always be grateful to Vivek (Ranadive) and the entire Kings organization for taking a chance on me,” McNair posted on X. “The Beam Team brought so much joy to so many. Thank you to the players, coaches, and staff who played such a vital role in creating those special moments and memories.”

With McNair now gone, the Kings announced that they had hired Scott Perry as their new general manager on Thursday ahead of a crucial offseason that could see even more changes for the franchise.
