Kings Linked to Former Grizzlies, Suns' Free Agent Guard to Bolster Backcourt

Of course, Sacramento traded their start point guard De’Aaron Fox at the trade deadline to the San Antonio Spurs and they then used both Malik Monk and Keon Ellis as their starter for the remainder of the season.

While both Ellis and Monk played well as the Kings’ starting point guard, it is clear that they need to go out and add another one this offseason due to their lack of depth at the position.

According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto , the Kings have several point guard on their radar but one of them in particular is Tyus Jones.

“Among several point guards on Sacramento’s radar is unrestricted free agent Tyus Jones, HoopsHype has learned,” Scotto wrote.

Jones began his career as a backup point guard but that changed over the last two seasons with both the Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns as he has turned into a starter.

Last season, the 29-year-old guard averaged 10.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 44.8% from the field and 41.4% from three-point range.

While Jones is not an All-Star caliber point guard, he would still be a massive upgrade for the Kings and they should also be able to sign him at a cheaper price than some others they may be interested in.

Either way, Jones would be a solid fit in Sacramento but they could look elsewhere to bolster their guard depth this summer.
