Klay Thompson enters his 15th NBA season with significant anticipation despite declining production.
The four-time champion recently appeared sharp during a recent post that the Dallas Mavericks shared about his summer camp preparation.
Klay Thompson visited his alma mater Washington State for additional training this summer.
He also provided mentorship by giving advice to rookies like Kon Knueppel and VJ Edgecombe during his preparation period.

Thompson sits just 108 three-pointers away from passing Damian Lillard for fourth on the all-time three-point list.
With Lillard sidelined for the season, Thompson has a clear path to achieve this milestone if he remains healthy.
Rank. | Player | 3pt |
1. | Stephen Curry | 4058 |
2. | James Harden | 3175 |
3. | Ray Allen | 2973 |
4. | Damian Lillard | 2804 |
5. | Klay Thompson | 2697 |
The veteran sharpshooter made 216 three-pointers in his first full season with Dallas, suggesting he should easily surpass Lillard’s mark.
Moving to third place would require 277 made threes to pass Ray Allen, a total Thompson reached only once during the 2022-23 campaign.
Thompson’s overall production declined significantly last season with the Mavericks.
He averaged just 14 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game – his lo west scoring and assist averages since his rookie year.
Despite maintaining a respectable 39.1% three-point percentage, Thompson’s numbers failed to justify his departure from Golden State for Dallas.
His overall impact appeared diminished compared to his Warriors tenure. However, coach Jason Kidd believes Thompson will improve with a complete roster.
While Kyrie Irving remains sidelined, the Mavericks have Anthony Davis and number one pick Cooper Flagg ready to complement Thompson’s veteran presence.
The combination of young talent and Thompson’s experience could help the veteran guard rediscover his championship-level form while pursuing his historic three-point milestone achievement.
