Klay Thompson has been dominating headlines all week. A four-time NBA champion and one of the greatest shooters the sport has ever seen, he built his reputation over 13 seasons, including 11 with the Golden State Warriors as part of the “Splash Brothers” alongside Stephen Curry. He then signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2024, and has played two full seasons with the franchise.
Throughout his NBA career, Thompson has largely stayed in the spotlight for his on-court play. But that changed on Saturday after his ex-girlfriend Megan Thee Stallion confirmed the end of their relationship in a statement obtained by Billboard.
Hours before the formal statement, she had posted to her Instagram Stories, accusing Thompson of being unable to commit to monogamy.
The fallout has since drawn national attention, with fans and public figures weighing in from multiple angles: some firmly in Megan’s corner, others taking Thompson’s side.
Amid the controversy, Thompson made his first public appearance on social media on Wednesday. The five-time All-Star went live on Instagram from a boat, sharing a relaxed moment at sea and appearing unfazed by the surrounding noise.

It’s not the first time Thompson has shared his ocean experience with his fans. He famously celebrated the Warriors 2022 NBA championship by going live on a boat cruise. However, the timing of his decision has raised eyebrows on social media.
The pair went public last summer, when Thompson first appeared in the background of Megan’s poolside post before making their red carpet debut in July, at her inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City. By Thanksgiving, Thompson had named his boat “SS Stallion” and the couple had spent the holiday with his family.
