The New York Knicks have focused on upgrading their bench this offseason as they try to make a push for a championship this season.
Of course, New York reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000 last season, though it was not enough for head coach Tom Thibodeau to keep his job.
Instead, the Knicks fired Thibodeau and hired two-time Coach of the Year winner Mike Brown as his replacement.
They then signed Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele in free agency to bolster their second unit, which was a major issue for the franchise last season.
By making these moves along with their core led by Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns returning, the Knicks are expected to be one of the teams to beat in the weakened East this season.
While the Knicks have already made multiple moves this summer, they do still have one roster spot open that they are expected to use to sign another veteran to come off the bench.
New York has been linked to many players including Ben Simmons and Landry Shamet and Malik Beasley’s name was also recently added to the list.
According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Knicks have touched base with Beasley in free agency.
Scotto also mentioned in his report that the Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers have also reached out to the three-point sharpshooter in free agency.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks & Minnesota Timberwolves have all reportedly touched base with Malik Beasley.

Of course, Beasley is one of the best players remaining in free agency and with him no longer being investigated due to gambling allegations, many teams are showing interest in him, including the Knicks.
For New York, adding Beasley to their roster would give them another elite scorer off the bench who could help them make a run at a championship this season.
Last season, the 28-year-old guard finished second in the NBA in total three-pointers made and he also finished runner-up in Sixth Man of the Year voting to Payton Pritchard of the Boston Celtics.
While Beasley would be a solid addition to New York’s bench, it is likely that they would have to trade somebody before signing him due to them only being able to offer a veteran’s minimum contract.
With other teams being able to offer the veteran guard more money, New York may not be able to land him this summer in free agency unless they make a move, which seems highly unlikely.
Either way, Beasley could be a key piece for the Knicks next season but they also elect to look elsewhere in free agency to fill their final roster spot with a cheaper contract.
