Over the past week, Jalen Brunson has been one of many big names across the NBA out of action due to injury. However, amid some recent developments, the superstar guard looked ready to make his return to the New York Knicks' lineup.
It's been exactly a week since Brunson was in action for New York, last suiting up in their blowout loss at the hands of the Orlando Magic. Since then, he missed a pair of games while recovering from an ankle injury.
On Wednesday night, the Knicks were slated to take on the Dallas Mavericks in a nationally televised matchup. A handful of big names were slated to be out of action, but Brunson wasn't one of them. Earlier Wednesday, NBA insider Shams Charania reported the Knicks' star would be in action against Dallas.
New York's Jalen Brunson will return to action tonight against the Dallas Mavericks (9:30 pm ET on ESPN) after missing one week with a Grade 1 ankle sprain.

Getting Brunson back is big news for the Knicks as they look to stay near the top of the Eastern Conference standings. Prior to getting injured, the 29-year-old was playing at an All-NBA level. Across his first 11 appearances, Brunson averaged 28 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists.
Update: Brunson poured in a game-high 28 points and added five assists as the Knicks pulled out a thrilling 113-111 victory over the Mavericks.
Brunson's return is a big storyline for this matchup for various reasons. Not only was he coming back after missing a handful of games, but he did so against his former team. As everyone knows, Brunson began his NBA journey with the Mavericks before eventually making the decision to sign with New York in free agency in 2022.
