The New York Knicks are coming off a successful season that saw them reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000, though they were unable to reach the NBA Finals as they fell to the Indiana Pacers.
Now the Knicks will look to make another deep playoff run during the 2025-26 NBA season as they enter the new year among the favorites to win the East.
Of course, the Knicks have their core of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart and OG Anunoby returning and they also made some key additions to their bench this offseason.
Early in free agency, the Knicks signed Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele and they also made two additions to their roster on Thursday as they signed both Landry Shamet and Garrison Mathews.

On Friday, the Knicks made another signing as they added Malcolm Brogdon to their roster to upgrade their backcourt depth behind Brunson.

After making this move, Knicks insider Stefan Bondy reported that people around the NBA expect the Knicks to make a move to keep Brogdon and either Shamet or Mathews on their roster entering the new season.

Stay tuned.
This is a massive report by Bondy as New York will now look for trade options for some of their players to free up space for their recent free agent signings.
While the Knicks do have multiple options on their roster that they could move on from, Tyler Kolek has continued to be a player who has been in trade rumors.
Of course, Kolek is set to find himself buried on the Knicks’ depth chart entering the season as he has Brunson, Miles McBride and now Brogdon ahead of him.
Last season, the 24-year-old guard averaged 2.0 points and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 32.9% from the field and 29.8% from three over 41 games.
Now entering his second season, Kolek will likely find playing time hard to come by due to New York’s depth at the point guard position, which may make him the odd man out as a player the Knicks try to move ahead of the season.
Despite this, New York does have other options on whom they could trade to make space for their recent signings, though Kolek has remained as the key trade piece thus far.
