Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns reaches major milestone in win over Wizards

Karl-Anthony Towns accomplished more than just helping the New York Knicks cruise to a 119-102 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday night.

The star center scored a season-high 33 points. In fact, he surpassed 30 points for the first time all year. But most importantly, the NBA veteran crossed 15,000 points.

Towns, who entered the game needing exactly 10 points to reach 15,000, left Madison Square Garden with 15,023 career points. Through seven games, Towns has recorded 143 points so far during the 2025-26 season.

Showing his dominance, Towns also did far more than just score against the Wizards. He added 13 rebounds for the double-double and even five assists and a pair of steals.

Before Monday, Towns' top offensive performance of the young season was when he put up 26 points in game No. 2 back on Oct. 24.

While his scoring average is currently below his 24.4 number from last season, his first with the Knicks after spending the first nine years of his career in Minnesota, or even his career standard of 23.0, Towns has been on a scoring tear as of late.

Towns' 33-point night marks his third-straight game with at least 20 points. He's averaging 18.3 points and 13.2 boards through seven games.

The Knicks will need the best of the five-time All-Star going forward as they hope to advance from the franchise's first Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 25 years to getting New York to the NBA Finals for the first time this century.

However, before Towns and the Knicks have to worry about the playoffs, there's plenty more time left in the regular season to win more games and increase his career point total even more.
