Knicks Load Up Injury Report Before Christmas

The New York Knicks will grant two of their stars a silent night just before Christmas.

The injury report for Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves (8 p.m. ET, MSG) lists OG Anunoby and Jalen Brunson as out due to respective ankle issues. Anunoby is dealing with “soreness” in his left while Brunson engages in “management” on his right.

Brunson, fresh off Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, has dealt with ankle injury throughout this calendar year. The most recent was Grade 1 sprain in a November loss to Orlando, one that kept him out for two games. Anunoby likewise had an eventful week, notably leading the team in scoring during last Tuesday’s NBA Cup-clinching win over San Antonio.

It’s likely these are minor injuries for the Knicks (20-8) as they press forward to their near-annual Christmas Day slot. This year’s featured a visit from the Cleveland Cavaliers, who served as the opponent for Brunson’s first victorious playoff series with New York in 2023. The Knicks’ upcoming schedule is quite packed, as they won’t enjoy two days off until the gap between Jan. 11 and 14.

In addition to Anunoby and Brunson, the Knicks will also be missing Guerschon Yabusele due to an illness while tenured departures Miles McBride and Landry Shamet remain out. The hosting Timberwolves (19-10) will be missing Joe Ingles due to personal reasons while Jaden McDaniels is questionable due to an oblique contusion.
