New York Knicks forward Mikal Bridges sent a clear message on social media after signing a contract extension with the team.
The New York Knicks are securing NBA forward Mikal Bridges to a new deal over the weekend. Bridges signed a four-year, $150 million contract extension , showing his commitment to stay in New York. Last season, the Knicks acquired the 6-foot-6 forward from the Brooklyn Nets via a trade.
He didn't waste time and quickly made his presence known on both ends. Although his numbers were slightly down, Bridges was still a significant part of the Knicks' success last season. He played in all 82 games, averaging 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists on 50% shooting from the field.
With Bridges, the Knicks were able to make it back to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2000. They saw his value, which is why they're committed to keeping him with their core players of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart.
On Instagram, Bridges was vocal about how much he loves the Knicks franchise.
"I love it here," Bridges posted.
Bridges' contract is $6 million short of the maximum extension he could've gotten from the Knicks, according to Shams Charania's report. The Knicks see a future with the two-way star, as he serves as one of the best perimeter defenders on the team.
