Knicks secure Mikal Bridges with four-year, $150M extension

The New York Knicks have locked in wing Mikal Bridges with a four-year, $150 million contract extension, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania and confirmed by multiple outlets. 

The deal includes a player option for the 2029-30 season and a trade kicker, and it puts Bridges under contract through at least 2029 and enforces a six-month no-trade window following the signing.

Although Bridges was eligible for a full four-year, $156 million max extension, he took approximately $6 million less, a move designed to help the Knicks maintain financial flexibility and remain under both luxury-tax aprons. That decision mirrors previous team-friendly commitments by Jalen Brunson and signals Bridges' confidence in New York’s direction.

Bridges played in every game last season – a rare streak – and averaged 17.6 points per game on 50% shooting, including 35.4% from beyond the arc. His playoff contributions further bolstered his value: Bridges averaged 15.6 points and 1.7 steals per game, delivering clutch defensive stops in key comeback wins during the Conference Semifinals against Boston.

With this extension, the Knicks now have a core group – Brunson, Bridges, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, and recently added Karl‑Anthony Towns – under contract through 2027–28, giving them continuity and clarity as they chase Eastern Conference supremacy. 

ANALYSIS: This team-first mindset by Bridges was crucial as he sacrificed short-term earnings for roster stability, and his trade kicker and no-trade protection reflect confidence in his fit and value in New York.
