The New York Knicks were in a prime position to capitalize on their 2-0 series lead over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals on Saturday afternoon.
New York's road to the 2-0 series lead was far from easy, as they overcame 20-point deficits in each game.
OG Anunoby was a crucial factor for the Knicks in the first two games.
In Game 1, Anunoby scored 20 of his 29 points in the second half, including 4-for-6 from deep.
While Anunoby scored just five points in Game 2, his defense against Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown was elite. He did not let them attack the basket and used his strength to keep them at bay.
In Game 3, the Celtics looked more comfortable on offense than they did in the first two games. On top of that, Anunoby's scoring production dropped even more.
He scored just two points on 1-for-6 shooting while collecting two rebounds and dishing out one assist. Outside of that, Anunoby went pretty much unnoticed, despite playing over 30 minutes.
His plus-minus was also a team worst -25.

It wasn't just him, though, as Josh Hart didn't have the impact in Game 3 as he did in Game 2 when he led the Knicks with 23 points and tied for the most offensive rebounds with three.
Mikal Bridges was active, scoring 12 points, but they'll likely need better production from Bridges down the stretch.
If the Knicks are going to take a 3-1 series lead before heading back to Boston, they'll need players like Anunoby to step up, especially if the hand injury to Karl-Anthony Towns turns out to be worse than initially thought.
