PHOENIX— Koa Peat, a four-time Arizona high school state champion and three-time Gatorade Player of the Year, has announced his college commitment for the 2025-26 season.
Peat, a top-10 national recruit from Perry High School, made his decision public on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, selecting the University of Arizona over Arizona State, Baylor, Houston, and Texas.

Peat told ESPN his choice was driven by a desire to be challenged and to continue his winning ways. “It’s a winning program, and all I want to do is win,” Peat said.
Arizona, which is in the midst of a strong season and has reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament, now boasts three commitments from the class of 2025. Peat joins top-40 prospect Dwayne Aristode and four-star recruit Bryce James, the son of LeBron James.
The 6-foot-8 power forward, ranked No. 9 in the ESPN 100, has already built an impressive resume. He has won three gold medals with USA Basketball, competing in the 2022 and 2024 FIBA U17 World Cups and the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.
Peat is known for his versatile skill set, making him one of the most well-rounded prospects in his class. His strength and athleticism allow him to dominate in the paint, but he also possesses a smooth shooting touch and strong playmaking ability for a forward. He can handle the ball in transition, create opportunities for teammates, and stretch the floor with his perimeter shot.
Defensively, Peat’s length and instincts make him a disruptive presence, and he averaged 3.1 combined steals and blocks per game last season. His ability to guard multiple positions and contribute in every aspect of the game makes him a highly valuable prospect at the college level.
With Peat’s commitment, Arizona continues to solidify its reputation as one of the top programs in college basketball, adding yet another elite prospect to its already impressive roster.
