Kyrie Irving Delivers 4-Word Message to Mavericks After $119 Million Decision
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Kyrie Irving will be staying with the Dallas Mavericks for the near future, agreeing to a nine-figure deal to remain with the franchise.

As ESPN's Shams Charania reported in a post on X on Tuesday, Irving declined his player option and instead signed a new three-year deal.

"ESPN story on Dallas Mavericks All-Star Kyrie Irving intending to sign a three-year, $119 million contract to stay with the franchise," Charania wrote.

The deal keeps Irving as a building block after the team traded star Luka Doncic in a blockbuster move ahead of last season's trade deadline. The Mavericks are expected to take Duke star Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick, pulling off a rapid rebuild with the hopes of remaining in title contention.

After reports of Irving's new deal surfaced, the veteran guard took to social media to deliver a four-word message to the team.

"Hélà x Mavericks," Irving wrote, referring to Irving’s Lakota name that was given the name by the Standing Rock Sioux tribe in 2018. The name means "Little Mountain."

"Tribe, Maktub," Irving added, using the Arabic word "maktub" meaning "fate" or "destiny."

Irving shined as the team's lone star after the Doncic trade, averaging 28.1 points and 4.1 assists in 10 games before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in March. He will miss a significant portion of the coming season but is expected to return sometime in early 2026.
