Kyrie Irving scores a career-high 60 points in blowout of Magic

A day after Karl-Anthony Towns became the first player of the 2021-22 season to score 60 points in a game, Kyrie Irving matched his effort Tuesday in a 150-108 destruction of the Orlando Magic.

Irving made 20 of his 31 shots on the night and was successful on eight of his 12 tries from beyond the three-point arc. In addition to his 60 points, Irving had six rebounds, four assists, four steals, and one block.

By halftime, Irving had 41 points, making him one of only three players in the last 25 years to score at least 40 in a first half. With the game well in hand, Irving scored his last points of the game with more than eight minutes left and watched the remainder of the blowout from the bench.

The 60-point performance for Irving comes exactly one week after he dropped 50 points on the Charlotte Hornets. It was also two days after Kevin Durant scored 53 against the New York Knicks on Sunday. The pair of performances made Irving and Durant the first teammates in NBA history to score more than 50 points in consecutive games.

For now, Irving is still ineligible to play home games due to his vaccination status. The Nets have managed to win four straight, although Irving is set to miss the team's next three games during a home stand against the Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers, and Utah Jazz.
