The Los Angeles Lakers announced point guard Luka Doncic is not on the injury report for their matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

Doncic grabbed at his groin several times towards the latter end of the contest; however, he brushed off any questions about his health in an interview after the Lakers' 119-109 loss to the Golden State Warriors.

"It's probably nothing," Doncic said. "Just felt it a little bit because my hip went [the opposite] way. Felt it a little bit, but it's probably nothing."

Doncic was the Lakers' best performer in their opening night loss, tallying 43 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. The point guard took 27 of the Lakers' 77 shots on Tuesday, sinking 17 of them. He was 15-of-17 from inside the arc; however, he made just two of his 10 shots from beyond the 3-point line. He played 40 minutes against the Warriors, which was more than anyone on either team.

The rest of the team failed to pull their weight in the loss, with just two other Lakers — Austin Reaves and DeAndre Ayton — reaching double-digit points.

The Lakers will want to keep Doncic as healthy as possible through the early part of the season, as they are also without superstar LeBron James, who has sciatica in his right side. James is set to be re-evaluated sometime at the end of the month, and will likely miss time at least through mid-November.

With James out, Doncic will likely carry a similar workload for the next few weeks and will look to put up more stunning performances as he did on Tuesday.

The Timberwolves knocked the Lakers out of the 2024-25 playoffs at the end of April, giving the Lakers even more incentive to bounce back from their loss on Tuesday. Doncic averaged 30.2 points during the Lakers' series against the Timberwolves in the playoffs, and will look to replicate his solid results against them for the Lakers' second game of the season.

Tip-off for their matchup against Minnesota comes Friday at 7:00 p.m. PT.
