Lakers Announce Official Decision On Phil Jackson Statue

The Los Angeles Lakers announced that former head coach Phil Jackson will be honored during the 2026-27 season.

Jackson had a 610-292 record with five championships during his 11 seasons with the Lakers, cementing his status as the most accomplished coach of his generation. The Hall of Famer hasn’t been around the franchise much since he left in 2011, but his greatness has led to the Lakers honoring him at Star Plaza.

It’s been confirmed that Jackson will get his very own statue outside Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers said it’ll be unveiled Friday, April 9, 2027.

After he accepted my dad’s invitation to join the Lakers, Phil’s unmatched creativity and commitment to excellence restored our championship legacy, bringing five titles and setting a standard of excellence for generations to come. It is a great joy to be able to mark that achievement with the statue he so richly deserves.”
