The Los Angeles Lakers' season ended months ago, but they don't appear to be any closer to fixing the drama that plagued them last season with regard to Russell Westbrook.
So perhaps it isn't too much of a surprise to hear reports that Westbrook reportedly had a phone call with LeBron James and Anthony Davis to discuss the "commitment to one another" ahead of the next season.
According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports, the powwow was to make sure all three players are banded together in pursuit of winning a championship next season, even though Westbrook's status with the team is as vague as it was when free agency opened up.
Rumors of the phone call are interesting given all signs still point to Westbrook playing elsewhere next season. The Lakers' efforts to move Westbrook since the midway point of last season have been fruitless, yet it is still expected the two sides will part ways because of how ill of a fit he has been on the teams since Day 1.
The attempt to move Westbrook has gotten even harder recently, it is reported, because he fired his agent.
