JJ Redick is embroiled in a feud with Charles Barkley, but the Los Angeles Lakers coach isn’t paying it any mind.
The back and forth with Barkley started over Redick's comment about the state of the NBA and declining ratings.
"If I’m a casual fan and you tell me every time I turn on the television that the product sucks. Well, I’m not gonna watch the product,” Reddick said. “That’s really what has happened over the last 10-15 years. I don’t know why."
Many took that as a shot at "Inside the NBA," which features Barkley, Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kenny Smith. Barkley responded on Thursday, ripping Redick and dropping a thinly veiled threat.
“He said something about, ‘We’re the reason people ain’t watching this crappy product we got.' Yeah, us, like we’re up there jacking up 100 3’s a night,” Barkley said. “JJ, you come for the king, you best not miss.
“I can get you brother. I got your Lakers games. You can’t hide them flaws they got. You’re just a dead man walking.”
Redick said he was sent the clip of Barkley calling him out but didn't get through the whole thing.
"Literally, don't care," Redick said ahead of the Lakers' game on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks. "I have other thoughts but don't care."
Redick brings a distinctive perspective as both a former player and media member. While he likely has more to say on the matter, he’s keeping those thoughts private while serving as the head coach of the Lakers.
