Lakers Injury Report: LeBron James Was Playing Sick This Weekend
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

In their comprehensive 129-109 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans last night, exactly four of your Los Angeles Lakers looked good, at least on offense.

Center Anthony Davis (20 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field and 6-of-8 shooting from the foul line, plus 10 rebounds, five blocks and three dishes. Combo guard Austin Reaves scored 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 shooting from the line. Shooting guard Taurean Prince logged 15 points while shooting 5-of-9 from the field and 1-of-1 from the charity stripe.

But All-NBA point guard/forward LeBron James, the oldest player in the league, scored 34 points on 12-of-24 shooting from the floor and 7-of-8 shooting from the foul line, while adding eight dimes and five boards.

Coupled with James' 26 points, five assists, three rebounds, three steals and one block in a heartbreaking 108-106 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, that's quite a way for the 19-time All-Star to ring in his 39th year on this planet over the weekend.

He did all that, apparently, while under the weather. Brett Martel of The Associated Press reveals that James was combatting "flu-like symptoms" throughout both games.

“We have to figure it out and get better, for sure,” James reflected. “We're not one team that likes to play from behind. We've been in that position a lot this year.

“The flight last night did not help, obviously,” James said. “We didn't get to the hotel last until 3:45 (a.m.). So, it was a rough day trying to recalibrate and get ready for the game. But I'm happy I was able to go out and just try to make some plays happen for my team.”

Here's hoping the bug doesn't get worse and cause James to miss more time. If he does, the Lakers could be looking at even more discouraging losses than the ones they're piling on with him!
