Tracy McGrady asked for a 30-point show from LeBron James . In Game 1 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Akron-born almost matched the request by dropping 27 points. Yet it was not enough to take the Los Angeles Lakers over the line. As Game 2 approaches, the fans are desperately asking for the return of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
Reaves came back from his injury in the latter half of the round 1 playoffs. Unfortunately, despite shrugging off the ‘underdog’ narrative, the 27-year-old hasn’t quite reached his old form yet. Playing against the Thunder, the 6-foot-5 star played for 36 long minutes. Yet he could only master a mere eight points for the night.

While the Lakers’ youngster will be available for Game 2, the team will be expecting a much-improved performance from him. Reaves had a dismal performance, which reflected in his 3-for-16 shooting from the field. And to make matters worse, the 2023 NBA Cup champion failed to score a single three-peat shot from five attempts throughout the game.
Now then, with Reaves clearly looking rusty, the injury report for Luka Doncic is even grimmer.
The concerns surrounding Doncic are not stopping. Just a couple of months back, things looked perfect for the Lakers. With Doncic spitting fire, JJ Redick’s team was pushing for a championship run. However, their hopes came to a screeching halt as the 27-year-old suffered a grade 2 hamstring injury. With more than a month gone, fans were expecting to catch the star player in action sometime sooner.
But according to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania, the timeline might be uncertain. “I’m told Luka will be out to start the series…. One source told me it’s still a slow path on Doncic’s recovery. He’s doing more on the court, but still not doing full-contact workouts,” Charania stated.

Now then, with the Thunder threatening to bulldoze the purple and gold bridge, all eyes will be on how James and Reaves combine next.
